|PH. IOMBI GARCIA||Fashion designer Cristina Ortiz works in Milan and is a mother of two. Born in Aragon, Spain, she spent the first 16 years of her life in Tenerife, Canary Islands; the perfect setting to cultivate her creativity. The sea, sun, and volcanic terrain gave Ortiz her artistic fusion.
Cristina graduated from the esteemed fashion institute Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne in Paris. She was later enlisted by Prada in Milan, as Design Director.
Over the course of her career, Cristina’s valued expertise and creative direction has given global images to the most influential designers of the luxury fashion world.
As Creative Director for Salvatore Ferragamo, Ortiz restored its old glamour giving the Ferragamo label a more recognizable style and strong identity. Cristina transformed Chantelle into an intimate couture brand. She was the leading lady for Brioni’s women’s division where she launched and established the brands image. The sleeping Maison Lanvin was also revived under her reign.
Spontaneous, determined and multi-cultural, Cristina continues to collaborate with different brands, creating a new contemporary style. At the same time, Ortiz is further exploring a new avenue to satisfy her affinity for jewelry by launching her own line.
